How To Create Content Pillars

Make content creation easier!

Ever find yourself minding your own business only to be hit with the fact that you didn't think of something to post for the day? We've all known that feeling.

Enter CONTENT PILLARS to save the day!

This is a topic I cover in-depth a lot with my 1:1 clients and immediately identify when we start working on new monthly full-service SMM clients. Content pillars, categories, buckets, or themes are the topics that you’ll come back to again and again when you create content on social media.

Let’s break it down:

Your Pillars:

Choose 3-5 main topics related to your business and goals.

Your Content:

Brainstorm smaller topics related to your content pillars.

Your Calendar:

Plan an educational, entertaining inspirational or promotional post for each topic and add it to your calendar.

There are many ways to go about this but here's 1 that works for most of my clients.

Think BIG PICTURE ideas + goals. Let’s say you’re a coach for women making a career shift. Your content pillars could include mindset tips, inspirational quotes, your entrepreneurial journey, and career topics. After you know your main content pillars you can break them down into smaller, related topics. When it comes to mindset, you could discuss doubts, limiting beliefs, and the growth mindset. You can break those related topics down too! Every topic you come up with is one - or a lot of - potential posts.

So what’s the point of it all?

Having set content pillars saves you time and makes planning easier. With branded content pillars, I’m able to plan out content at least a month in advance and I don't get the overwhelming feeling that I forgot to do something.

So now I ask you, what are YOUR content pillars?
